So, how do Scouts earn a merit badge? Merit badges cover topics like Automotive Maintenance, Cooking, Cycling, and everything between. There are more than 135 merit badges Scouts can earn. But how?  

The recommended process for earning merit badges: 

1. The Scout develops an interest in a merit badge.
2. The Scout discusses interest in the merit badge with their unit leader. (Note: a unit leader is a Scoutmaster or Venturing Advisor) 
3. The unit leader signs a blue card and provides the Scout with at least one counselor contact from the Council approved list. Unit Leaders can refer to Scoutbook for counselors or reach out directly to our Council Advancement Chairman.
