Arizona School Access Legislation— Join the May 7 Strategy Rollout

Unit leaders, Unit Coaches, and Scouting volunteers,

I’m excited to share some very good news. After several years of effort, school access legislation has now been signed into law in Arizona.

This gives us one of the best opportunities we’ve had in many years to put Scouting back in front of Arizona families in a meaningful way. It is especially timely as we approach the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. Few programs are more closely tied to citizenship, civic pride, leadership, and service than Scouting, and we believe this creates a unique opportunity to help more young people and families become part of our movement.

Our team is building a coordinated fall strategy, including messaging, tactics, tools, materials, and best practices to help us make the most of this opportunity. Our goal is simple: we want to ensure that every Scout-aged youth is actively invited to join Scouting.

Because this opportunity is so important, we need to approach it the right way and with a common playbook. Please do not reach out to schools yet. Instead, please join us for Arizona Scout Leaders’ Night on Thursday, May 7, when we will roll out the strategy, materials, tools, and next steps for fall execution.

Arizona Scout Leaders’ Night is our monthly online training session, and details and links are available on the council calendar at ScoutingAZ.org.

I hope you’re as excited as I am about what this could mean for Scouting in Arizona. Thank you for everything you do, and I look forward to seeing you on May 7.

Thanks
