Mark your troop calendar now! Registration opens July 20 for Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST), taking place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Heard Scout Pueblo.

This one-day council-level course is designed for newly elected Scouts BSA youth leaders and provides the foundational leadership skills needed to succeed in troop leadership positions. Through interactive, hands-on activities led by trained youth staff, participants will strengthen their leadership abilities while putting the Scout Oath and Scout Law into action.

ILST is required before attending National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and is recommended for:

• Senior Patrol Leaders (SPL)
• Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders (ASPL)
• Patrol Leaders
• Quartermasters
• Any Scout serving in an elected leadership role

Registration Information

• Registration opens July 20, 2026
• Scoutmaster approval is required to confirm the Scout is serving in an elected leadership position.
• Space is limited to 48 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
