Have You Had a Chance to Give Compass a try?

A few weeks ago, we launched Compass, our new AI-powered Scouting assistant, designed to help you find answers, information, and resources about Scouting—both nationally and right here in Grand Canyon Council.

My hope is that Compass will eventually become one of the first places you turn when you have a Scouting question. Need information about a program, an upcoming event, or a Scouting policy? Give Compass a try!

We’re still early in its development, and we know there’s plenty of room for improvement. That’s why your feedback is so important. A big thank-you to our early adopters who have already kicked the tires and shared their experiences. You’re helping us make Compass better for everyone.

If you haven’t tried it yet, you’ll find a “Try Compass” button at the very top of scoutingaz.org. That takes you to a page with a short introductory video and a link to Compass itself. I’d encourage you to save the direct Compass link to your phone’s home screen, just like any other app you use regularly.

And please, tell us what you think! There’s a feedback survey on the Compass page, but if you’d rather just send an email, feel free to reach out directly to me or Collin Reed on our staff. We want to hear what’s working, what’s frustrating, and what you’d like Compass to do that it can’t do today.

On another note, it’s been exciting to see hundreds of new Scouts joining our ranks this fall! I hope your packs and troops are off to a great start and that you’re enjoying getting to know the new families joining our Scouting community.

I also had the pleasure of attending the Maverick Camporee a few weeks ago. What a terrific event! I especially enjoyed visiting with several of our Scoutmasters and seeing so many Scouts enjoying the program. My thanks to Cathy Catalfo, who chaired the Camporee, and the entire volunteer leadership team who made it happen. Events like these are wonderful reminders of what makes Scouting special—and of the incredible volunteers who bring it to life. Cathy has been the event Chair for quite a while and we appreciate her leadership as she 'retires' from the role.

Thanks for everything you’re doing for Scouting across Arizona. Keep up the great work this fall, and please give Compass a try. I look forward to hearing what you think!
