Build your skills. Strengthen your training. Make a greater impact on Scouting.

Join us for Fundamentals of Training: Part 1 – Science of Training and Part 2 – Craft of Training, the updated training series that replaces Trainer’s EDGE.

Designed for adult volunteers and professionals who teach—or want to teach—Scouting America training at the unit or council level, this course combines the science behind effective learning with practical opportunities to strengthen your training skills.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will explore how to:

  • Understand how adults learn and stay engaged.
  • Write clear, effective learning objectives.
  • Select appropriate training methods for different topics and audiences.
  • Structure training sessions for better understanding and retention.
  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Apply these principles through presentations and constructive feedback.

Who Should Attend?

Adult volunteers and professionals who serve, or aspire to serve, as trainers for their units or council programs.

Important: Completing both parts of Fundamentals of Training satisfies the trainer development requirement for Wood Badge and NYLT staff and other advanced training roles.
